Want to Add Some Self-Love to Your FYP? Follow These Mental Health TikTokers

TikTok is Generation Z’s digital encyclopedia. You can learn everything about the world — how to dance to any song (even the “American Horror Story” theme song), how to cook baked feta pasta, how to DIY basically anything in your home — in a matter of seconds.

Believe it or not, TikTok is also a surprising resource for mental health. There are millions upon millions of videos on developing self-love, receiving validation for your struggles and gaining hope about your future. Who would’ve thought a social media app would actually have the power to make you feel better about yourself?

Indeed, TikTok has truly become a kingdom of feel-good content, gifting both therapists and everyday people a platform to share their own struggles, how they are surviving and how you can too.

From dealing with social anxiety to reflecting on your own toxic behavior, these mental health TikTok accounts uncover everything you need to know about mental health.

1. joeykidney

If I could have anyone read me a bedtime story, it would be Harry Styles. If he were too busy touring to do the job, I would ring up Joey Kidney instead.

With more than three million followers and nearly 100 million likes on his TikToks, @joeykidney is a mental health advocate, writer, YouTube creator and voice actor. (Just kidding. He’s not a voice actor, but he should be. Or he should at least narrate a coming-of-age movie.)

In his soft-spoken TikToks, Joey shares heartfelt, poetic messages about love that feel as if they were personally written for you. Heartache, self-love, loneliness — these topics only scratch at the surface of what he covers.

2. Sah D’Simone

Want to get into meditation and spirituality, but don’t know where to start? Sah D’Simone is the guide for you. As a meditation teacher, transformational speaker and author, Sah inspires others to heal from their trauma, feel empowered in their own skin and truly thrive.

On TikTok, Sah shares personable and inspirational videos about healing to their 460k+ followers. With a combination of comedic sketches and deeply comforting sit-down videos, Sah is basically like having an online best friend who you can go to for anything.

3. spiritualsage

Have you ever come across someone on the internet who you felt like you would be best friends with if you ever met them in real life? That’s exactly who Sage of spiritualsage is.

Down to earth and comforting, Sage is a young woman whose honesty about her mental health journey is what has inspired almost 60k people to follow her. Each of her videos on spirituality and healing feel natural and raw, as if you were having a late-night deep chat in the car with her.

4. 5hahem

@5haham is a TikTok page I’ve been following ever since I stumbled onto the app and it became a part of my nightly routine (I live for my TikTok time before bed). With more than 300k followers, Sha is a personable therapist who shares informative videos on self-love, racial trauma, managing your emotions and much more. I’ve been a long-time fan of theirs, and I can’t wait to see their influence continue to grow!

5. spiritofellis

With a name like Ellis, you already know you’re in store for a boatload of spirituality and inner healing — that’s exactly what Ellis Anthony, or spiritofellis on TikTok, is about!

Ellis is a certified professional coach and certified meditation teacher who offers spiritual guidance, as well as life and business coaching. With hundreds of bite-sized TikToks, Ellis is often sat in front of a bookshelf and plants (the best combination), detailing important signs to look out for in life, like signs someone is good for your mental health and signs you’re an over-thinker.

6. Jeffrey Marsh

Nurturing, honest, inspiring — that’s how I would only begin to describe Jeffrey Marsh.

Jeffrey is a non-binary actor and activist both on TikTok and IRL who shares insightful stories on self-love, healing, non-binary rights and more. With the most comforting aura I’ve ever encountered via the internet, Jeffrey’s contagious passion for hope and love has transformed not only all 475k+ of their followers, but also everyone who has the privilege of meeting them or watching even just one of their videos.

7. Lori Wheeler

Lori Wheeler is like your cool aunt who you can trust to give the most authentic advice and tell the best jokes. With over half a million followers on TikTok, Lori is a alternative practitioner, as well as certified life and health coach. She shares informative and inspirational videos on setting boundaries with tough people, letting go of your past mistakes, finding peace in your healing journey and more.

8. Mairéad Van Santen

Does meeting new people, trying new hobbies or going to new places alone freak you the freak out? Then Mairéad Van Santen is the gal pal for you!

Otherwise known as mairead.vs on TikTok, Mairéad takes her 50k+ followers alongside with her as she works through her social anxiety, giving people an honest look on how she manages everyday tasks like going to the grocery store and walking alone.

As a person who also has hints of social anxiety, it’s especially comforting see a fellow young person share her struggles and growth with others who are just like us.

Whether you’re watching TikToks to form healthier relationships or try new self-care activities, there are a boatload of mental health creators who are there to guide you along on your healing journey. Happy scrolling!

Jane
